Community Development Approval Process

Looking to develop vacant land or an existing building? Below, you’ll find a summary of our community development approval process.

Here are just some of the ways Franklin Township works to facilitate the development process:

  • On the 1st, 2nd & 4th Tuesday of every month, the Technical Review Committee (TRC) meets. Made up of in-house staff, the TRC can approve minor site plan applications without having to go before the planning board
  • The Planning Director, Zoning Officer, Twp. Engineer, & Economic Development Administrator meet with developers and business owners to discuss their initial conceptual plans.
  • The Planning Director, Zoning Officer, Township Engineer provide feedback to developers during the entire development process.
  • In-house review (planner, engineer, etc.) of development applications which reduces costs to the developer, allows for quicker turn-around, and provides better coordination between the township and developers.
  • Expedited plan review available in the construction department
